KABUL: Three NATO-led soldiers were killed when a man in an Afghan government army uniform fired at them in Afghanistan’s eastern province of Paktika on Saturday, the international coalition said, in the latest apparent example of an insider attack.

“Three ISAF (International Security Assistance Force) members were killed when an individual wearing ANSF (Afghan National Security Force) uniform turned his weapon on them and opened fire,” a spokeswoman for Afghanistan’s NATO-led force said.

ISAF said on its Twitter feed that it was “investigating a possible insider attack in eastern Afghanistan”.

The spokesman for Paktika’s governor Mukhlis Afghan said that “There has been an attack by a suspected member of the Afghan forces targeting NATO soldiers.”
