PML-N local leader shot dead in Peshawar

PESHAWAR, Pakistan: A Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) local leader Haji Sardar Khan was shot dead in Peshawar on Wednesday.

The police said that Haji Sardar Khan was the President of the PML-N’s Peshawar Chapter.

The PML-N leader was shot by two militants riding a motorcycle in Yakutat area of the city. He sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar for medical treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Later, the proscribed militant organisation Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) took responsibility for the killing of the PML-N’s Peshawar chapter President.

“Our special unit STF successfully targeted the PML-N senior leader in Peshawar’s Yakatut area,” a TTP spokesperson Muhammad Khorasani said.
