PESHAWAR, Pakistan: An explosion took place near a security checkpost of Khasadar Force in Jamrud area of Khyber Agency on Tuesday, killing at least 11 people and injuring more than 20 others.

The security checkpost was situated near Karkhano Marker area in Jamrud.

The reports said that those who lost their lives in the blast also included the Assistant Line Officer Nawabshah and President of the Tribal Union of Journalists Mehmoob Shah.

The eyewitnesses said that it was a suicide blast; however, the exact nature of the blast is yet formally to be confirmed.

The dead bodies and injured were shifted to Hayatabad Medical Complex where an emergency had been imposed.

Meanwhile, the Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan strongly condemned the blast and expressed deep sympathies with the bereaved families.

Khyber Agency is one of Pakistan’s semi-autonomous tribal regions where anti-terrorism operation is currently underway.

In the past, most of the terror-related incidents across Pakistan were claimed by the banned terrorist organization Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) against whom and other terror outfits, the armed forces are engaged in Khyber Agency and other adjoining tribal areas.
