QUETTA: Preliminary investigations into terrorist attacks in Balochistan revealed on Sunday that blast in a bus carrying women students in Quetta campus was a suicide attack by a woman bomber.

Officials said a case of the incident has been registered in Barori Road police station under Anti-Terrorist Act.

Initial reports said the bomber, identified as Aisha Siddiqa, who blew himself up in a bus carrying women students of Quetta’s Sardar Bahadur University.

Police have also included injured bus driver into the investigation, saying that a captured terrorist is also under investigation.

At least 22 people were killed in a day of violence that started with an apparent separatist attack that destroyed a historic building once used by the nation’s founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah in the hills of Balochistan province.

A policeman lost his life in the attack on a popular symbol of Pakistan’s history, which was gutted by fire after several small bombs were detonated.

The first attack was quickly followed by a bus bomb on a university campus in Balochistan’s capital Quetta that killed at least 14 women students.

The injured were taken to the city’s Bolan Medical Complex, where an ambush by a suicide bomber and an ensuing firefight with security forces killed at least eight more people.

The death toll has mounted to 30.
