25 injured after blast on railway tracks in Jacobabad

JACOBABAD, Pakistan: A remote-controlled bomb blast took place on the railway tracks in Jacobabad district of southern Sindh province on Thursday that left at least 25 persons including women and children injured.

The sources said that as a passenger train en route to Peshawar from Karachi reached near Dil Murad railway station in Jacobabad district, a bomb planted on the railways tacks went off.

The bomb was donated by a remote control by unknown miscreants, the sources said adding that four bogies of Khushhal Khan Khattak Express derailed as a result of the explosion.

The blast also caused destruction of 30 feet railway track, and subsequently the railway traffic between Karachi and rest of the country was suspended. However, according to railways officials, the railway traffic would be resumed as soon the repair work of the damaged portion of track was completed.

Following the blast, the injured persons were rushed to Civil Hospital for medical treatment while the security personnel cordoned off the area and began an investigation into the incident.
