KABUL, Afghanistan: The Afghan Taliban killed three US security contractors and one Afghan man in an attack at the Kabul airport.

In a statement on Friday, the Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed responsibility for the attack, saying that the attacker Ehsanullhah from Laghman province had infiltrated the ranks of Afghan forces and wore an Afghan police uniform.

The attack took place on Thursday evening at the military base inside the North Kabul International Airport complex while the victims were employed under a US Defense Department contract to help train the Afghan air force.

The shooting also left an Afghan national dead and another American man injured.

“Three coalition contractors were killed as was an Afghan local national. This incident is under investigation. Further information will be released as available and appropriate,” he added.
