In the third Test, Pakistan will be without fast bowler Wahab Riaz and the opening batsman Muhammad Hafeez. Wahab Riaz sustained an injury during the second Test in Colombo whereas Muhammad Hafeez has to undergo a test on his bowling action in India.

On the other hand, Sri Lanka will play a test without two veteran players Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene for the first time in 15 years.

Mahela Jayawardene has retired from all forms of cricket while Kumar Sangakkara has announced to retire from Test cricket after the second Test against India in August. However, he won’t play the last Test against Pakistan.

The Sri Lanka batsman Upul Tharanga will replace Kumar Sangakkara for the third Test against Pakistan.

It’s a strange experience to be without Mahela and Sanga, but we have some good young players who are ready to step in,” the Sri Lankan Vice Captain Lahiru Thirimanne told reporters on Thursday.
