GALLE: The first Test match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka has entered the fifth and last day at the Galle International Stadium on Sunday but is likely to end in a draw mainly because of rain interruption on the first day.

In response to Pakistan’s 417 runs in their first innings, Sri Lanka had scored 63 for 2 in their second innings when the fourth day ended on Saturday.

The Sri Lankan FDM Karunaratne and MDK Perera were at the crease with 36 and 0 runs respectively when play ended for the day. The opening batsman Jayan Kaushal Silva who scored an impressive 125 in the first innings could manage to score only 5 runs in the second innings while KC Sangakkara got out for 18 runs.

Wahab Riaz and Yasir Shah from Pakistan picked up one wicket each.

Earlier, Pakistan were all out in their first innings at 417 runs, taking lead of 117 runs. The middle-order batsman Asad Shafiq scored 131 runs whereas Sarfaraz Ahmed remained unlucky as he was four runs short of scoring a century but got out at 96. Zulfiqar Babar also made his maiden Test half century.

From Sri Lanka, MDK Perera took four wickets while KTGD Prasad bagged three.

Sri Lanka in their first innings scored 300 runs.

The second Test of the three match series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be played from June 25 to 29 at the P Sara Oval, Colombo.
