TTP commanders killed in Badakhshan Afghanistan

Khorugh, Tajikistan (Dispatch News Desk): Information coming from across the border indicates that there is a heavy fight going on between Afghan forces and Taliban in Yamgan District of Badakhshan province while Afghan forces are supported by US drone attacks.

Unconfirmed information indicated that six Pakistani Taliban (Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan) commanders are among dead militants. Yamgan area is known hideout of Pakistani Taliban (TTP) who tried last year to cross border and enter into peaceful Tajik region of independent Badakhshan province.

Eye witnesses claimed that heavy fight is continue till two nights and Afghan forces are advancing but they are still to control the area. However Afghan Ministry of Interior claimed that it has taken over the area that was under the virtual control of Afghan and Pakistani Taliban since long.

Meanwhile, Afghan radio in its Sunday morning broadcast claimed that 4 Pakistani Taliban (TTP) are also killed in late last night in Kamish district during a drone attack. Radio reports claimed that no residents have sustained harms in drone strike and terrorist hideout was destroyed effectively.

Badakhshan province borders Tajikistan and is inhabited by mostly Tajik people. It is one of the few provinces in Afghanistan which was not controlled by the Taliban when it was in power. After coming under increasing pressure by NATO forces in southern Afghanistan and operation of Pakistani Army in its Afghan bordering areas, Pakistani and Afghan Taliban are gathering in Badakhshan Province. Pakistani Taliban have started using women and children as suicide bombers and targeted tribal elders in Badakhshan Province.
