MANCHESTER, United Kingdom: Like the first day of second Test at Old Trafford, England maintained their dominance over Pakistan on second day as well as the later in their first innings lost four quick wickets for only 53 runs on Saturday.

In reply to England’s first innings score of 589 runs for 8, Pakistani batsmen kept on losing their wickets in quick succession and at stumps, they had lost 4 wickets for only 57 runs.

Muhammad Hafeez, Azhar Ali, Younis Khan and Rahat Ali were the batsmen who got out. Hafeez scored 18 runs, Rahat Ali scored 4 while Azhar and Younis managed to score one run each.

Shan Masood and Misbah-ul-Haq were still at the crease with 30 and 1 runs respectively.

For England, Chris Woakes took 3 wickets while one wicket went to Ben Stokes.

Earlier on Saturday morning, England resumed their first innings on 314 for 4. Joe Root and Chris Woakes established a 113-runs partnership for fifth wicket before Woakes was out on 58. Later, Ben Stokes, Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow also lost their wickets. Root scored 254 runs.

England declared their first innings at 589 for the loss of eight wickets.

Wahab Riaz was the most successful bowler for Pakistan with 3 wickets. Muhammad Amir and Rahat Ali bagged 2 wickets each whereas Yasir Shah took one wicket. Azhar Ali and Shan Masood, who also bowled 11 and 3 overs respectively, remained wicketless.

Earlier, in first Test played at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London from July 14-17, Pakistan beat England by 75 runs to register their first Test win over England at Lord’s after 20 years. Yasir Shah was declared man of the match for grabbing 10 wickets in the match.
