ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif held a meeting at the PM House in Islamabad on Friday.

In a statement issued in Islamabad, the PM house said that the two leaders covered the issues related to regional and internal security in their meeting.

“Matters pertaining to regional and internal security were discussed,” the statement said.

The meeting occurred a day after the prime minster arrived in the Federal Capital from Lahore where he had been since July 09 after his return to Pakistan from London. The prime minster stayed in London for 48 days during which he also underwent a successful heart surgery.

The prime minister has also convened a meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) in Islamabad today to review national security issues and regional situation.

The federal ministers, key advisers and top military leadership will participate in the NSC meeting.
