DND News: While Pakistan continues to sacrifice men in uniform almost every day to protect the country, PTI’s founding chairman who invited terrorists back to Pakistan from Afghanistan and resettled them in settled areas has nominated Sohail Afridi, a staunch supporter of TTP terrorists and certain Afghan Taliban groups that host TTP hardliners.
This decision by former prime minister Imran Khan, the founding chairman of PTI, has even been rejected by PTI circles in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), who believe Sohail Afridi cannot be the Chief Minister for the following reasons:
Appointing him as Chief Minister of a province that is the frontline in Pakistan’s war on terror is akin to making Noor Wali of Fitna al-Khawarij (TTP) the chief minister of KPK.
Sohail Afridi is the political face of the terror-crime nexus in KPK. It is well known that he patronises criminal mafias and is deeply involved in large-scale kickbacks.
He openly supports the Taliban and bashes the Pakistan Army at the behest of his pseudo-jailed leader, Imran Niazi.
The blood of thousands of Pakistanis, including armed forces personnel, has been shed to fill governance gaps in KPK. No one will be allowed to waste the sacrifices of our Shuhada and their families. This individual is half-Taliban himself; how can he lead a province still suffering from the disastrous policies of his leader, Imran Khan, who resettled 35,000 Fitna al-Khawarij terrorists in KPK?

It may be mentioned that Afridi entered mainstream politics in February 2024, when he was elected to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly as an independent candidate with the full support of TTP and Afghans living in his constituency PK-70 (Khyber-II). After winning election, he joined PTI and was appointed as the special assistant to the chief minister for communications and works (C&W). Following a cabinet reshuffle, Afridi was later promoted to full minister status, taking charge of the Higher Education Department.
