LAHORE: The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines (SNGPL) on Tuesday suspended supplies to the industrial and compressed natural gas (CNG) sectors in Punjab for an indefinite period, saying there is no other way to meet the requirements of domestic consumers.

The SNGPL said that shortage of the gas was the reason which led it to take the decision regarding the suspension of the supplies in the province. It said that the system’s shortfall stood far beyond 800 million cubic feet per day (bcfd).

However, the people linked with the industries termed the suspension of supplies as ‘economic massacre’.
