ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Senate on Monday passed “The Provincial Motor Vehicles Amendment Bill, 2020”, “The Provincial Motor Vehicles Amendment Bill, 2020” and “The Islamabad High Court (Amendment) Bill, 2020”.
Senator Faisal Javed had moved “The Provincial Motor Vehicles Amendment Bill, 2020” to amend the Provincial Motor Vehicles Ordinance, 1965, and “The Provincial Motor Vehicles Amendment Bill, 2020” to amend the Provincial Motor Vehicles Ordinance, 1965.
“The Islamabad High Court (Amendment) Bill, 2020” was moved by Senator Muhammad Javed Abbasi to amend the Islamabad High Court Act, 2010.
The Senator Muhammad Javed Abbasi also moved “The Islamabad Capital Territory Watersides Safety Bill, 2020”.
The bill called for the provision of safety standards on watersides of canals, dams, lakes and rivers in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) which are currently ineffective and are required to be improved and regulated to avoid unfortunate incidents of drowning.
It was referred to the Senate Standing Committee concerned.
Two further bills moved by Senator Muhammad Javed Abbasi “The Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Bill, 2020” and “The Protection of the Rights of Religious Minorities Bill, 2020,” were also referred to the Senate Standing Committees concerned.
Meanwhile, the Senate passed the resolution to recommend the government to take necessary measures to promote cultural norms and social values of the society with particular reference through electronic media to promote a positive image of the society & country.
The House also passed another resolution to recommend the government to take necessary steps to establish separate lock-ups for the custody of juveniles arrested in suspicion of committing crimes in order to keep them separate from adult criminals in lock-ups, in all police stations in the ICT.
