ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) would brief the Senate Committee on Finance, Revenue, Economic Affairs, Statistics and Privatization on the rules made under the Benami Act 2017 on Tuesday, August 8.
The senate body, which is scheduled to meet under the chairmanship of Senator Saleem Mandviwalla would also discuss the issues related to the replay submitted by FBR to the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) and its role in this regard.
The committee would consider the matter regarding separation of accounts from Audit controlled by the Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP), submitted by Chairman All Pakistan Audit and Accounts Officer Association (Combined).
The committee is also scheduled to discuss provision of grants and loans to the provincial governments and non-governmental organization without involving Economic Affairs Division besides reviewing the implementation status of the compliance report of the recommendations made by the committee on EAD in its meeting held on April 12.
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and the Bank of Punjab (BoP) would also brief the committee on the alleged manipulation of share prices of BoP and loss of shareholders.
The SECP would also brief the committee on the rules made under the Companies act 2017.
The Finance Division would give in-camera briefing to the committee on the role of private banks i.e. Standard Chartered Bank, Citi Bank and Deutsche Bank regarding issuance of Euro bonds by the government of Pakistan.
