ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Senate was told on Friday that 11,500 Deeni Madaris (religious seminaries) have so far been registered with the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training.

The above information was shared with the Senate by the Federal Education, Professional Training, National Heritage and Culture Rana Tanveer Hussain in reply to a question by Senator Fawzia Arshad.

To another question by Senator Ejaz Ahmad Chaudhary, the federal minister apprised the House that a total of 17 Public Sector Universities are imparting higher education in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).

The minister told that a total of 785,342 students are studying in the Public Sector Universities/Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the ICT (2019-20).

Further, he informed that the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has 424 educational institutions from Prep to Degree Level and approximately, 225,115 students are presently studying in these Schools/Colleges.

Likewise, he told that at present 1,334 female teachers are working as Senior Elementary Teachers (SET) (BS-16) under the FDE.
