ATHENS, Greece: The Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Sajid Hussain Turi said that overseas Pakistanis are the backbone of Pakistan because they always played a great role in boosting Pakistan’s economy.

While addressing a Prestigious Ceremony in Greece organized by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) President Chaudhry Shabbir Dhama and attended by representatives of political and social organizations, and a large number of Pakistanis living in Greece, the minister assured that welfare and empowerment of Pakistani diaspora working in various Countries across the globe will be taken care of.

The federal minister said that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and the PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari have always desired that the problems of Overseas Pakistanis should be solved on a priority basis with a standard education to their children.

Sajid Hussain Turi said that in his meeting with the Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC), it was decided to sign an MoU soon under which talented children of overseas Pakistanis will be awarded scholarships in national and international universities.

Social personalities apprised the federal minister about the problems faced by the Pakistani Community living in Greece.

The minister said that he is well aware of the problems of overseas Pakistanis and is working day and night to sort out these issues.

Expressing his views, Sajid Hussain Turi said that this is an era of globalization, in this modern age, Pakistan is looking to train its large pool of workforce and skilled workers in an efficient and effective manner by collaborating with regional and international leading institutions.

The minister added that the current government is working on to ink MoUs with European Universities for the exchange of scholars, cooperation for research in various sectors including agriculture, energy and other fields.

The federal minister said that Pakistanis have made many sacrifices for world peace and are playing an important role in the development of various Countries. He said that we are trying to make agreements with developed Countries so that more and more skilled Pakistanis could be exported for employment.

The minister told the overseas Pakistanis that Ministry for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development is primed and eager to support them and they can contact him in case of any grievance.
