Election tribunal orders re-election in PP-136 Narowal

LAHORE: An election tribunal on Wednesday declared null and void the election in the PP-136 Narowal constituency held in May last year and ordered a re-election.

The Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Colonel (retd) Shujah Ahmad Khan had won the seat of Punjab assembly from PP-136 Narowal with 47,475 votes while independent candidate Muhammad Wakeel Khan Manj was the runner-up with 31,423 votes. But Manj had challenged the victory of the PML-N candidate, accusing him of rigging the votes.

The election tribunal today nullified the result stating that ballot papers and counter files were missing from the record.
