ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday declared Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) lawmaker in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Yousaf Ayub, disqualified in the fake degree case.

Ayub was elected as the member of the provincial assembly from PK-50 Haripur 2 on PTI ticket after winning the May 11 general elections. He was also the provincial minister for communication and works.

The Election Tribunal had declared Ayub ineligible over his fake degree. In response, the PTI’s MPA had filed a plea in the Supreme Court against the decision of tribunal.

The apex court on Wednesday upheld the verdict of the election tribunal and dismissed the petition of Yousuf Ayub.
