PESHAWAR, Pakistan: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Mehmood Khan was elected as the Leader of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly in Peshawar on Thursday.
Mehmood Khan – who belongs to Matta area of Swat – bagged 77 votes while his rival Mian Nisar Gul of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) got 33 votes.
After taking oath, Mehmood Khan will become the first Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from the Malakand Division.

Earlier on Wednesday, Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani of PTI was elected as the 18th Speaker of the 130-member Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly by securing 81 votes.
The Joint Opposition’s Laiq Muhammad Khan could receive 27 votes.
