ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) and Muttahaida Quami Movement (MQM) have been declared ineligible to take part in the upcoming general elections, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported on Friday.

Some 123 political parties are eligible to contest the general elections, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) announced on Friday. But PTI and MQM still are unable to get their eligibility to contest the elections confirmed.

The sources said, the PTI was declared ineligible to take part in the elections over the failure to complete intra-party elections, while the MQM was declared ineligible due to the party’s failure to submit details of assets from 2010.

Eligible parties for contesting the upcoming general elections include PPP, PML-N, PML-Q, PML-F, Pakistan Awami Tehreek, APML and others.
