ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) senior leader Senator Sherry Rehman has submitted a calling attention notice to the Senate Secretariat, seeking a response from the Law Minister over incidents of abuse and murder of children in Kasur.

The notice drawing attention of the ministry of law and justice says “In a horrific incident an eight-year-old girl was brutally raped and murdered in Kasur, Punjab. What is more shocking is that 10 rape incidents have taken place in Kasur within a year.

“It is also important to highlight that Kasur made international headlines in 2015 when a gang of pedophiles running a child sex ring was busted. The gang had abducted and sexually assaulted at least 280 children in the area. These development are extremely disturbing and should not go unnoticed.

“A full-fledged investigation needs to take place to reveal a clearer picture.”

“This is a serious concern that merits a response from the Minister on the floor of the House,” it adds.PPP seeks Law Minister’s response over Kasur rape incidents

While expressing condolence and sympathies with them, Shahbaz Sharif strongly condemned the heinous incident. He also offered Fateha for the departed soul.

The Chief Minister assured the family that he would not sit idle till provision of justice to them as it was his duty and responsibility. He said that the beast-natured accused would not remain unpunished.

Earlier the Supreme Court Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar also took notice of rape and murder of Zainab in Kasur, and sought report from Inspector General of Police Punjab within 24 hours.

Separately, the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Chief Siraj-ul-Haq also visited Kasur today to express condolences to the bereaved family.

Siraj-ul-Haq also visited the residence of those protesters who were killed yesterday in exchange of firing with police during the protest.

While addressing the protesters, the JI Chief said that Zainab was martyred after being raped and was thrown in heaps of garbage.

“What was Zainab’s mistake? She was a minor and innocent,” he said. “I ask from the prime minister and the chief minister Punjab, why was your earth not shaken when a daughter of Kasur was abducted five days ago?”

The JI Chief said that Zainab had become complainant against the corrupt rulers and cruel system.
