LONDON: The Overseas Pakistanis, especially workers of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) London Chapter, have expressed their gratitude to Prime Minister Imran Khan and other PTI leadership for granting the right of vote to the Overseas Pakistanis.

Expressing their views at an event organized by the PTI East England and Central London in East London, the Overseas Pakistanis said that all the governments in the past promised in this regard but only the PTI government has taken a practical step.

The event was organized to appreciate and recognize the contribution of the party activists, who played a key role in the intraparty elections and rendered their valuable services for the party.

The President of the PTI London Mian Waheed-Ur-Rehman, the Vice President East England Saif Chaudhry, the Senior Vice President Shabbir Barlas, the General Secretary London Atif Ali Shah, the Women Secretary London Anila Qazi, the President PTI East England Mustafa Kamal, the Information Secretary PTI London Khadim Ali and other party officeholders and workers participated in the event.

The Overseas Pakistanis assured the party leadership to play an effective role in the next general election in Pakistan.

Talking at the occasion, the PTI London’s President Mian Waheed-Ur-Rehman termed the government’s decision to grant the right of vote to the Overseas Pakistanis as an excellent step, which should be encouraged.

The Senior Vice President Shabbir Barlas said that we have extended our PTI London team to work to broaden the party lines and spread the vision of leadership.

Shabbir Barlas congratulated all those appointed organizers on behalf of the PTI London President Mian Waheed-Ur-Rehman and the team. He said that the selfless and deserving candidates need such recognition to motivate young activists to come forward and play their role.

On the occasion, Muhammad Imran Zulfiquar was appointed the Organizer of the PTI North London and Ishma Moeen was appointed the Organizer of the PTI West London whereas Asif Iqbal and Shahzad Mehmood were appointed Organizers of the party in South and East London respectively.

Terming the PTI government’s decision for granting the right of vote to the overseas Pakistanis a right step towards the right direction, the Organizer PTI North Muhammad Imran Zulfiquar said that the Overseas Pakistanis who are playing a vital role in the economy of Pakistan by sending remittances from abroad will now be able to take part in the decision-making process of the Country.

Imran Zulfiquar urged all the legislators to support the government’s right step to empower the Overseas Pakistanis and refrain from making it controversial for mere political point-scoring.

It is pertinent to mention that the federal cabinet recently approved two Ordinances that would enable the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to introduce Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in the next general elections and also take measures to allow the Overseas Pakistanis to cast their votes.
