PoliticsNo compromise on people’s fundamental rights: Chief Justice

PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar on Thursday said no compromise would be made on provision of fundamental rights to the people.

While hearing different petitions as the head of a three-member bench which also included besides him, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Umar Ata Bandial at the Peshawar Registry on Thursday, the Chief Justice said bureaucracy would have to work for ensuring basic amenities to the common man.

Justice Saqib Nisar regretted that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had miserably failed to establish even a single waste recycling plant in the province. He said dumping of the hospitals and municipal wastes further aggravated health hazards.

The Chief Justice said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province was blessed with hydel resources and the provincial government should have accelerated the work on hydel projects to provide cheap electricity to the people.

Meanwhile, the Chief Justice also summoned the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak in clean drinking water case.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan also visited the Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar, wherein at ICU Ward patients lodged complaints against the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, saying the provincial government failed to ensure security and medical facilities for them.

They said no change had been witnessed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
