ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Syed Zafar Ali Shah on Monday regretted attributing false reports to him about carrying photo copy of Computerized National Identity Card at the time of casting his vote.

“I carried the original CNIC. I am a lawyer and know the requirements for casting a vote,” he said talking to a private news channel.

Zafar Ali, who is a candidate for Chairman in union council 30, had approached concerned polling station to cast his vote.

However, a confusion emerged about his not presenting original CNIC to get ballot paper which he clarified live on the same channel.

“I regret this report, cameraman showed my card. So, there is no reason for raising question on this matter,” he said.

When asked if the document presented to the polling staff was valid, Zafar Ali Shah said, “I am not irresponsible person. I know the process and I carried the valid CNIC. How can I violate the law.”
