Courts have dual standards, blames Nawaz Sharif

PoliticsCourts have dual standards, blames Nawaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday blamed courts for having “dual standards”, adding they had been struggling against the double standards of Courts.

“We will take this struggle to its final destination,” Nawaz Sharif said while talking with media when asked to comment on Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran having secured bail in various Cases.

He claimed that decision of Supreme Court in Review Petition was not a decision rather a message to the Accountability Court to punish him at any cost. He claimed that Accountability Court would not give him punishment but punishment was forced upon him through the Judge.

The former prime minister was at the Federal Judicial Complex in Islamabad where he reached earlier in the morning to attend hearing of National Accountability Court (NAB) references for the sixth time amid strict security measures.

His daughter Maryam Nawaz and Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar also reached NAB Court to attend hearing for the eighth time.

Nawaz Sharif reiterated that his conviction was pre-decided, adding the Panama Papers verdict included such remarks which were used by their opponents.

During the proceedings, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan’s (SECP) Joint Registrar Sidra Mansoor recorded her statement as the first witness in the Avenfield flats reference.

The second witness Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) Jahangir Ahmad also appeared before the Court to record his statements.

Meanwhile, Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz filed two separate petitions in the Court seeking immunity from appearances before the NAB Court.

Earlier to the media outside the Federal Judicial Complex, the Information Minister Maryam Aurangzeb said Joint Investigation Team’s (JIT) volume 10 was still under process.

Maryam Aurangzeb said NAB Court had been holding the trial over the interim report of the JIT. She questioned that there were six references which had to be brought to their logical conclusion in only four months, why there was so much hasting?

The minister said there was no allegation or prove of corruption against Nawaz Sharif. She said all the questions would be answered by the public in 2018 general elections.

A day earlier, daughter of former Prime Minister Maryum Nawaz through her twitter messages blamed courts to have dual standards and criticised courts.

She also claimed that Chairman PTI Imran Khan works for establishment of Pakistan by retweeting a post having a photo of Imran Khan with former dictator Gen. Musharraf in her twitter message.
