ISLAMABAD: Hamid Khan‚ the counsel for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan‚ took time from the Supreme Court (SC) till 11.30am today for a written reply in the hearing of the Contempt of court case.
The PTI chief Imran Khan arrived at the apex court before a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry in the contempt of court case.
Hamid Khan submitted his brief written statement which said that Imran Khan’s remarks were aimed at the Election Commission of Pakistan and not the Supreme Court.
However, the court termed the reply of the counsel representing the PTI chief as unsatisfactory.
The counsel for PTT’s chairman told the apex court that his client could not even think of committing contempt of court.
Earlier, talking with media while going to the SC, Imran Khan refused to tender an apology in the contempt of court case.
Imran Khan said that he and his party always respected judiciary and participated in the struggle for independent judiciary. “Democracy is impossible without independent judiciary,” Imran Khan said.
The PTI chief said that he had not said anything wrong hence there is no point to apologize. He said that white paper will be issued against the worst rigging in the elections.
It is pertinent to mention that the supreme court on Wednesday issued a notice to the Imran Khan over his “critical and derogatory” remarks against the judiciary and judges of the apex court. It said that Imran Khan apparently had tried to incite hatred against the apex court in one of his interactions with the media.
