Punjab By-Elections 2022 are going to decide who will be the future Chief Minister of the province. Today, it looks that twenty seats are bigger than the entire House of 371 seats, with 297 general seats, 66 seats reserved for women, and eight reserved for non-Muslims.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan who promised his followers that he would distribute party tickets among youth and middle-class followers has again chosen “electable”

The multiparty government will be in a safe position in Punjab if it gets at least 15 seats out of 20. So far, PMLN has an edge over PTI in 16 constituencies due to a thoughtful selection of candidates, support of PDM parties, infighting in PTI at the constituency level, and door-to-door campaign run by PMLN first and second-tier leadership at the district level.

If someone looks at party ticket distribution, the amazing factor is “Candidate Swapping”. Over 16 seats, PMLN fielded candidates who won the 2018 elections as Independent candidates and later joined PTI or who were PTI ticket-holders in the 2018 general elections. Over 11 candidates are contesting elections on PTI tickets who were either PMLN or independent candidates in the 2018 general elections. PTI Chairman Imran Khan who promised his followers that he would distribute party tickets among youth and middle-class followers has again chosen “electable”.

PMLN has played very safely and fielded its candidates with deep deliberations and 16 out of 20 PMLN candidates are repeaters who won 2018 elections either from PTI ticket or as independent candidates.

One has to overview seat to seat situation to get an idea of what is going to happen on July 17, 2022, by-polls day.
