LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Mian Marghoob Ahmad has won the seat from PP-150 Lahore XIV by securing 18,526 votes on Wednesday.

According to sources, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) candidate Mehar Wajid Azeem came in second with 18,074 votes. The sources said that at least 452 votes were rejected.

After a neck-and-neck contest in the August 22 by-elections, PML-N’s Marghoob Ahmad was declared winner with a close margin of 374 votes from the runners up, PTI’s Mehar Wajid Azeem.

The PTI candidate challenged the result in the courts, alleging irregularities at some polling stations. Later, the Election Commission of Pakistan ordered a recount on August 29.
