ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Dr. Arif Alvi has said that the Parliament of Pakistan is playing its role for sustainable future building on the basis of equality and ensuring public participation in decision making.

In his message on the occasion of International Day for Parliamentarism, the president said that the day is an important occasion to recognize the central role of legislatures in giving people a voice, representation and influence to shape public policy.

   

Parliaments, the world over, have special obligations to advance and promote sustainable growth and fundamental rights, he said.

President Arif Alvi said that the Parliament of Pakistan is also playing its role to enhance inclusivity and build a more equal, resilient future for the people of Pakistan. He added that the Parliament of Pakistan is a fundamental pillar of the State.

The president urged the Parliament to seize every opportunity to reshape and secure the nation’s common future, sustainable growth and welfare of all segments of the society.

Dr. Arif Alvi also reiterated the resolve of the people of Pakistan to a strong and empowered Parliamentary system having true representation of the masses at large.
