ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has ruled out any chance of rigging in the upcoming general election in the existence of independent judiciary, media and election commission, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported on Thursday.

In a meeting of the federal cabinet in Islamabad on Thursday, the Prime Minister said that elections will be held well on time in fair and transparent way.

PM Ashraf said that judiciary, media and election commission are independent and free; therefore, he said, there is no chance for any rigging in the election.

The Prime Minister said that terrorism is big challenge for the country and all political forces will have to work collectively to curb the menace.  He termed all parties conferences convened by Awami National Party and Jameet Ulema-e-Islam-F as positive step to eliminate terrorism.

He commended the role of army in fight against terrorism and said we boosted the moral of army which gained remarkable success especially in Swat.

Raja Pervez Ashraf said during its five year tenure, the government made successful efforts to improve national economy besides providing basic communities to the life of the people.

At today’s meeting, the cabinet will discuss fourteen point agenda including reviewing law and order, economic and political situation of the country.

On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
