KARACHI: The ten-party grand alliance on Sunday kicked off its Train March from Karachi to Rawalpindi in a bid to force to government to conduct free and fair elections, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

The activists of the parties including Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F), Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan (JUP), Sindh United Party (SUP), Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-S (Sami Ul Haq), National Peoples’ Party (NPP), Pakistan Democratic Party (PDP) and other factions are participating in the All Parties Train March.

Talking to participants of the march at Karachi Cantonment Station before the departure, JI Sindh chief Dr. Mairaj Ul Huda Siddiqui said “Our march is against irregularities in electoral rolls and worst law and order situation in Karachi.”

“We need rectification in electoral rolls and will carry out the struggle against pre-poll rigging before holding of general elections,” he added. “JI and other parties think that fair and free elections will pave the way for a stable Pakistan.”

Siddiqui urged the Chief Election Commissioner to implement Supreme Court orders in its true spirit for transparent elections in the country.

On the occasion, PML-N’s Saleem Zia in his address condemned the PPP-led government for turning a blind eye to the elements responsible for sabotaging peace of Karachi.

“We have resolved now not to let anyone win the elections through bullying and rigging,” he said.

Participants of the march departed from Karachi through Allama Iqbal Express, with a stopover at Hyderabad where they were welcomed hundreds of other supporters. Accompanied by their respective leaders, the party workers will reach Sukkur on Sunday from where they will depart for Rawalpindi after a night’s stay.
