Pakistan reiterates it considers Saudi Arabia’s security of utmost importance

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan has reiterated that it holds Saudi Arabia in high esteem and considers the security of the holy land of utmost importance.

“Any violation of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Saudi Arabia would evoke a strong reaction from Pakistan according to the aspirations of the people of Pakistan, a high-level meeting held in Islamabad on Tuesday on the Middle East situation said.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif sought update on the status of Pakistanis stranded in Yemen.

The prime minister noted that the first phase of evacuation was completed in a satisfactory manner and directed that the remaining countrymen should also be brought back safely as soon as possible.



The meeting was attended by the Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar, the Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif, the Advisor to Prime Minister on National Security Sartaj Aziz, the Special Assistant to Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi, the Secretary Foreign Affairs and senior officials.

Later, a high-level Pakistani delegation reached Riyadh for discussions with Saudi authorities on the obtaining situation in Yemen.

The Saudi Defence Minister Prince Muhammad Salman received the delegation.

The delegation consisted of the defence minister, the prime minister’s advisor on national security and foreign affairs and senior officials.
