KARACHI, Pakistan: Pakistan Railways has recorded an increase of Rs three billion in its revenue during the last six months, the Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad said on Saturday.

Talking to news representatives at Karachi Cantt Railway Station, the minister said that Pakistan Railways made immense progress in the last six months due to hard work of its officers and labourers.

The minister said that we are laying a new track for which an agreement will be signed with China during the upcoming tour of the Prime Minister Imran Khan to Beijing.

Sheikh Rasheed said that Pakistan Railways has the capability to construct freight trains and we are exporting these as well in the past.

The railways minister said that VIP trains are also being introduced to decrease the deficit of the department, and in this regard, Sir Syed Express and Jinnah Express would soon be launched.

Meanwhile, the minister also announced a reward of Rs 3,000 for each labourer on behalf of the prime minister. He further said that 10,000 new posts are being created in Pakistan Railways.

Sheikh Rasheed also said that it’s their endeavor to increase one grade of every labourer in the next budget.
