ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The National Book Foundation (NBF) will organize a three-day National Book Gala at the Pakistan-China Friendship Centre in Islamabad in the last week of October 2023.
The Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar Ul Haq Kakar will be invited to inaugurate the event.
It was informed by the Managing Director of National Book Foundation Dr. Raja Mazhar Hameed to the Minister of Federal Education and Professional Madad Ali Sindhi in a meeting in Islamabad on Monday.
The Managing Director NBF presented the portraits of leaders of Independence Movement of Pakistan Chaudhry Rehmat Ali and Qazi Muhammad Isa to the education minister.
Madad Ali Sindhi praised the efforts of Chaudhry Rehmat Ali and Qazi Muhammad Isa in the independence movement. He said that these leaders have played a critical role in the independence movement. He said that their contribution towards the formation of Pakistan could never be forgotten. He said that they are the heroes of Pakistan that should be honored and remembered to continue their legacy. He said that they serve as an inspiration to the future leaders of the Country.
The minister said that the culture of book reading is imperative in creating an enlightened youth of the Country.
Madad said that all the stakeholders should be involved in the National Book Gala including all the Universities, Colleges and Schools to spread the culture of book reading. He said that the purpose should be to bridge the gap between books and the youth.
The education minister said that our society has rampant intolerance and by spreading knowledge and wisdom society can be inculcated with tolerance.
Madad Ali Sindhi said that NBF should play a critical role in bridging the gap between the youth of the Country and book reading. He highlighted the importance of having regular book fairs that push the nation towards the books.
