Nawaz congratulates BJP leader Narendra Modi on election victory

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif called the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Narendra Modi on Friday to congratulate him on his party’s thumping victory in India’s Lok Sabha elections, and expressed his best wishes.

Sharif also invited Narendra Modi to visit Pakistan

The 63-year-old Modi appears all set to be the Indian next prime minister with the BJP likely to get a majority on its own.

The Indian media reports said that Modi will take oath on May 21.

The ruling Congress party accepted defeat in the elections while its prime ministerial candidate Rahul Gandhi congratulated the new government and said that he holds himself responsible for Congress’ defeat.
