NationalPPP to hold countywide protests against prolonged load-shedding

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has decided to hold countrywide protests against unannounced and prolonged load-shedding across the Country.

Sources said that the PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has given approval for the protest.

Meanwhile, the unannounced load-shedding has increased across the Country, making it worse for heat-stricken masses after the electricity shortfall soared to over 6,000 Megawatts.

The demand of electricity has reached 16,300 Megawatts whereas the production remains 10,100 Megawatts, according to the National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC)

The NTDC said that hydropower production is at 1,400 Megawatts instead of 5,500 Megawatts due to extremely low water level in big dams.

Sources said that 9 to 10 hours of load-shedding is being witnessed in major urban areas whereas rural areas are suffering from 12 to 18 hours of load-shedding
