ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: National Assembly on Tuesday adopted a resolution for taking immediate steps to stop forced conversions and marriages of women belonging to minorities.

The resolution was moved by Lal Chand Malhi in which he said that the government should take immediate steps to stop forced conversions and marriages of women belonging to minorities.

Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho supporting the resolution said that non Muslim Pakistanis were facing this situation and their concerns should be addressed while passing this resolution.

Dr Nafeesa Shah supported the resolution and said the joint resolution woukld be a good gesture and country’s image would rise in the International community. Minister for Law Zahid Hamid did not oppose the resolution.

Parliamentary Secretary for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Khalil George, Sohail Mansoor, Jamsheed Dasti and Sher Afghan also spoke on the resolution.
