Militants destroy tomb of Hazrat Uwais al-Qrani in Syria

DAMASCUS: The foreign-backed militants have destroyed the tomb of Hazrat Uwais al-Qarani in the Syrian city of Raqqa on Thursday, Iranian media reported.

   

The al-Qaeda-linked group the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), and other Takfiri militant groups have targeted many historical and religious sites including the holy shrine of Hazrat Zaynab (AS) and churches in the Christian village of Maaloula near Damascus in the country which has been gripped by deadly violence since 2011.

The sources said that over 150,000 people have been killed and millions displaced in Syria due to the violence fueled by Western-backed militants.
