MEXICO CITY: As many as 94 illegal immigrants including 19 from the Indian subcontinent have been detained in Mexico, officials have said.

Officials said that the group which also had 10 Nepalese and 9 Bangladeshis were found near the southern city of Tuxtla Gutierrez, capital of Chiapas State, while they were trying to reach the United States.

The non-Asian migrants were from the Central American nations of Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras.

Officials said the migrants were traveling in inhumane conditions. The driver of the vehicle, who was from central Mexico, was arrested on human trafficking charges. The entire group is likely to face deportation proceedings, they said.
