Monitoring Desk: The Arab League meeting indicates “Business as Usual” with United States as forum ended without announcing any tangible or intangible action from Arab World against U.S decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

The statement issued after the meeting of Arab League at Cairo Egypt says “US decision of accepting Jerusalem as Israeli Capital places the United States at a position of bias in favor of the occupation and the violation of international law and resolutions.”

The emergency meeting of Arab League foreign ministers added that decision also strips the U.S. of its role as a “sponsor and broker” in the Mideast peace process.

Only Lebanese Foreign Minister called for the League to consider imposing sanctions on the US.

“Pre-emptive measures must be taken against the decision … beginning with diplomatic measures, then political, then economic and financial sanctions,” said Lebanese Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil.
