ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Iranian President Dr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi reached Islamabad on Monday, undertaking a three-day official visit to Pakistan from April 22 to 24, 2024 for a wide-ranging agenda to further strengthen the bilateral ties and enhance cooperation in diverse fields including trade, connectivity, energy, agriculture, and people-to-people contacts.
This is the first visit by a Head of State to Pakistan after the general elections in February 2024.
The visiting dignitary was warmly received by the Federal Minister Riaz Hussain Pirzada on his arrival at Nur Khan Airbase.
As party of his extensive programme in Pakistan reflecting depth and breadth of Pakistan-Iran ties, the Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi will hold a meeting with Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif today followed by a round of delegation level talks between the two Countries.
The two dignitaries will also plant a sapling in the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad on the occasion of Earth Day.
The two leaders will attend the signing ceremony of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between Pakistan and Iran for cooperation in various fields.
The two leaders will participate in a ceremony regarding naming a Highway in Islamabad as Iran Avenue. They will also hold a press talk.
The prime minister will host lunch in honor of the Iranian president and his delegation.
President Dr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi will also hold meetings with President Asif Ali Zardari, Chairman Senate Yousaf Raza Gilani, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.
