IranIran, world powers to continue talks on nuclear deal for third day

GENEVA: Iran and six major world powers will meet for third consecutive day in the Swiss city of Geneva on Saturday over Tehran’s nuclear energy program.

The talks are being held between Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany on a proposal that Iran could freeze expansion of its nuclear activity for limited sanctions relief.

Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and a Chinese deputy foreign minister are also heading to Switzerland to participate in the talks.

US Secretary of State John Kerry, British Foreign Secretary William Hague, French Foreign Minister Lauren Fabius and German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle have already joined the talks held in Geneva on Friday.

On Friday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu utterly denounced a possible agreement in the course of the nuclear talks between Iran and the six world powers as a bad deal.
