Pakistan wants to normalize relations with India: Sartaj Aziz

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The prime minister’s adviser on national security and foreign affairs Sartaj Aziz has said that Pakistan wants to normalize relations with India despite the recent provocations of hostilities along the Line of Control (LoC) and the Working Boundary.

The adviser made these remarks in a meeting with the US special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Daniel Feldman in Islamabad.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral relations, regional situation, recent developments in Pakistan’s relations with Afghanistan and India.

The prime minister’s adviser said that the international community should play its role for an early resumption of Pak-India peace process and a resolution of all outstanding issues including Kashmir dispute.

Sartaj Aziz also reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for a peaceful, stable, united and prosperous Afghanistan. He said that Pakistan would extend support for an Afghan-led reconciliation process.

The advisor said Pakistan is engaged with Afghanistan on range of issues including peace and security, trade and economic ties, reconstruction and rehabilitation, and regional cooperation.

The US special representative acknowledged Pakistan’s vital contribution towards peace and stability and deeper engagement on issues of trade and economic cooperation with Afghanistan.
