ISLAMABAD: Two students were injured when Indian troops resorted to unprovoked firing at Line of Control (LoC) in Battal and Neza Pir sectors on Wednesday morning, military sources said.
The injured were taken to a local hospital for medical aid, while the number of injured is feared to increase.
The sources said that Indian troops opened fires using artillery and light weapons in Battle and Neza pir sector at around 10:20 am today which continued for more than two hours.
The LoC that separates Kashmir has been subject to a ceasefire agreed by the nuclear-armed neighbours since 2003, offering a semblance of security to the hamlets that dot the snow-capped, mountainous terrain.
Periodic violations and cross-border shelling are a constant menace, with the most recent one occurring in early June allegedly from the Pakistani side. Islamabad has denied the charges.
