KOTLI: Indian border forces resorted to unprovoked fire across the Line of Control (LoC) after six days calm on Monday.
According to military sources, Indian troops opened shelling in Nakyal sector in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) that lasted for some time, however, no loss of life and property was reported.
The continued ceasefire violations by India have created tension in the region.
Two countries agreed to a ceasefire along the LoC in November 2003, but skirmishes have flared across the heavily-militarised Line of Control (LoC), the de facto border in Kashmir, in recent weeks, with both sides blaming each other for having violated the agreement.
Both countries have suffered human losses.
