CrimeDelhi gang rape: All four accused found guilty, sentencing tomorrow

NEW DELHI: A Delhi court has convicted all four accused in the gang rape and death of a physiotherapy student in December last year, a crime that sparked nationwide protests and forced the government to bring in stringent rape laws.

The accused including Mukesh, Vinay Sharma, Akshay Thakur and Pawan Gupta will be sentenced in Delhi gang rape case tomorrow (September 11) at 11am.

During Tuesday’s hearing, the additional sessions Judge Yogesh Khanna ruled that the prosecution has established beyond reasonable doubt that all the four accused were guilty of the attack on the 23-year-old woman in a bus on December 16.

The accused were found guilty of the several offences–including gang-rape, murder, kidnapping and unnatural offences– they had been charged with.

The court said the dying declarations of the victim, statements of 85 prosecution witnesses, DNA, forensic and electronic evidence proved the guilt of the accused.
