Imran, Qadri requested army chief for meeting: Nawaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on the floor of the National Assembly on Friday that on the request of both Imran Khan and Dr Tahirul Qadri, the Chief of Army Chief General Raheel Sharif asked him to permit meeting with them.

In his speech, the prime minister categorically stated that he can sacrifice his governments ten times but will never compromise on the supremacy of the parliament, the constitution and the democracy.

Sharif assured the House that the government will honor each word of the resolution passed by this House regarding holding of negotiations with protesters. He said that he has taken oath to protect the constitution and the parliament and will never deviate from this oath.

The prime minister said that he has taken oath to protect supremacy of the constitution and he will never compromise on it as protection democracy is his ideology.

Moreover, he said that the government and positions come and go but he cannot compromise on the principles.
