Imran Khan in classified Epstein Files

Monitoring Desk: Some portions of the U.S. House Oversight Committee’s investigations released this week mention former prime minister Imran Khan as an acquaintance of the infamous Ghislaine Maxwell. While social media in Pakistan has erupted with speculation, the truth is that the association between Imran Khan and Ghislaine Maxwell is neither new nor unexpected.

Similar information surfaced in Pakistani media as far back as 2019, but reports were aggressively suppressed through state influence at a time when Imran Khan was presenting himself as the architect of the “Riasat-e-Madina” project.

One widely circulated photograph of Ghislaine Maxwell standing with Imran Khan published internationally was officially explained by state institutions as “having been taken at a party at London’s Savoy Hotel in 1990, held to mark the fall of communism”.

Online news outlets and newspapers were instructed to take down pages that discussed the possibility of Khan’s presence at high-profile social events allegedly arranged by Maxwell and her associates. One widely circulated photograph of Ghislaine Maxwell standing with Imran Khan published internationally was officially explained by state institutions as “having been taken at a party at London’s Savoy Hotel in 1990, held to mark the fall of communism”. Despite this explanation, reporting at the time suggested that Khan enjoyed close social proximity to Maxwell, partly due to Maxwell’s ties with Khan’s then in-laws, the Goldsmith family. Ghislaine Maxwell was a central facilitator in Jeffrey Epstein’s sex-trafficking operations: evidence, court findings, and victims’ accounts show she recruited, groomed and sometimes trained girls to be presented to Epstein, actions that led to her criminal conviction and a 20-year sentence.

Following the resurfacing of this photograph and related information, a series of leaked audio clips—widely discussed on Pakistani social media—further fueled speculation about Khan’s private life and personal preferences. His former wife Reham Khan’s book also made several claims about his relationships and intimacy, raising questions about the nature of his personal behavior that includes possibility of likeness for bisex—-ulity. The book itself was effectively banned from formal distribution in Pakistan, and state institutions reportedly made efforts to block websites hosting its digital version. Notably, this attempt at censorship occurred around the same time the Maxwell photograph began to draw renewed attention.

Overall, while the recent U.S. committee disclosures have reignited public interest, much of the underlying information is not new. It is part of a broader pattern of allegations, published reports, and state interventions that have circulated for years but were often suppressed before and during Imran Khan’s premiership.
