ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has suspended the sentences awarded to the former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Lifetime Chairman-Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi in the Toshakhana Case.

The IHC announced the decision in Islamabad on Monday, ordering to release Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi.

   

The IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq said that appeal against the punishment would be fixed for hearing after Eid holidays.

On January 31, 2024, an Accountability Court in Islamabad had sentenced Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi to 14 years in prison in the Toshakhana Reference.

The Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Bashir had also disqualified the former prime minister from holding the public office for 10 years.
